Summary Objective:

The Director, Business Development is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction in growing Sirius Solutions’ revenue through the acquisition of new clients and by extending offerings within our current client base. The Director of Business Development prospects, originates, negotiates and closes deals while also managing a Team charged with doing the same. A collaborative associate, this Executive partners with the Managing Director, Houston Market Lead and the various Functional and Industry Practice Area Leads in the Company to identify, prioritize and close on the most promising consulting opportunities. This role requires an effective, networked, profitability-focused leader with a proven track record of sales effectiveness and strong leadership skills.

Business Development:

  1. Each year, quantify, in conjunction with the Managing Director, Houston Market Lead, the target annual sales goal for Self and Team and track to that target each week, continuously adjusting Self and Team actions and behaviors to achieve stated sales goal and rolling 12-month revenue goals.
  2. Manage all aspects related to acquiring new clients or growing existing ones, including targeting, prospecting & proposal development:
    1. Identify prospects based on macro (economic, regulatory, etc.) and micro (known client
      opportunities, personal network, etc.) indicators and profiling.
    2. Originate, lead and/or support sales pursuits.
    3. Identify and understand the business needs of current and prospective clients and partners,
      and recommend the appropriate solution using Sirius Solutions’ business model:
      1. Ensure that for each prospective client the best manner for Sirius Solutions to engage is
        presented: (a) interim support; (b) project management; (c) advice & assessment; (d)
        managed services; (e) comprehensive solution execution; or (f) some combination of
        these approaches.
      2. Collaborate with corporate leadership, business development, recruiting, delivery
        leadership and accounting to solution and structure services.
    4. Qualify and prioritize opportunities based on fit with business strategy, ability to deliver, cost to win and probability.
    5. Create and deliver presentations and proposals to key stakeholders, influencers and buyers.
  3. Participate in sales and marketing related efforts including webinars, in-person presentations and conferences.
  4. Take lead in the opening of new accounts and expansion of existing accounts.


  1. Define and comply with operating procedures and the sales process, continuously identifying ways to improve processes and procedures while staying true to the Company business model.
  2. Influence deal shaping and develop negotiating strategies.
  3. Manage the Sirius Solutions Business Development Team; assist in sourcing and recruiting new talent steward and develop talent.
  4. Serve, at all times, as a Brand Ambassador ensuring that Self and Team are providing best-in-class services to clients and treating each other and clients with kindness and respect.

Position Requirements:

Minimum Years of Relevant Experience: 15+; 5 years managing others Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree.


  • Proven track record of business development within a consulting company, specifically in the area of financial and/or operational performance improvement.
  • Prior experience selling to public and private companies across multiple industries.
  • Demonstrated track record and talent for outstanding business development.
  • Collaborative team player with the integrity to earn client and internal team confidence quickly.
  • Experience with proven sales processes and techniques.
  • Self-starter; sales “hunter;” hard working.
  • History of establishing and managing relationships with clients; possess a network of existing contacts.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and coach high-level teams to meet professional performance goals,
    cultivate strong relationships with team members, and attract and retain best-in-class talent.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills as well as superior presentation abilities.
