Capability Assessment

• U.S. Merchant Generator - Assisted a large physical energy player with an evaluation of the capabilities of an energy trading organization.  Key analyses were delivered to assist our clients understanding where and how its trading organization was generating P&L, as well as ability of its personnel, processes and systems to stretch and scale to meet expanded commodities and product offerings being contemplated.
• E&P Company- In an underperforming reconciliation unit within a trading organization, we were engaged to evaluate personnel, processes and technology against better practices.  Developed recommended course of action to get the group on track for success.

Process Design & Enhancement

• Start-up Commodities Trader - For a new energy trading company, led the initial design of front to back-office business processes, risk controls, and operations and management reporting.
• Energy Trading Organization- In connection with expanding its product footprint to include new commodities and asset management deals, assessed the adequacy of the company’s business processes, controls, and technology to absorb these new lines of business.  Defined a blueprint for required organizational, process and systems changes.

Change Management

• Energy Trading Organization - In connection with the business combination between two trading organizations, led the merger integration planning project.  Areas of focus included:  organization/BU design; roles and responsibilities; multi-site process redesign; and, systems consolidation.
• Investment Bank- Trading organization consolidated all trading operations to Houston.  We provided experienced staff as augmentation of the power and gas scheduling, mid-office/product control, financial reporting and IT areas.

Modeling, Forecasting, & Portfolio Assessment

• Energy Trading Organization - Developed a credit and collateral optimization model for use by the credit group of a trading organization in setting and negotiating collateral requirements.
• Energy Trading Organization- At the request of management, evaluated statements made with respect to portfolio risk and risk reduction against portfolio facts.
